Project/Product Description

The commercial space is located in Buenos Aires. It´s small surface (735 ft2 ) was decisive to its compositional strategy, since in such a small space the impact had to be immediate. Therefore, the colors had to achieve an immediate immersion effect.
Having in mind that the product are burgers, the design strategy is based on the single intervention (folds) of the single material (sheet metal), enriching the sobriety through changes of rhythm, application of textured patinas and lighting design, all of which refers to the hot iron of the baking plates.
Its rythm shifts, textured patinas, lighting design, red neon tones, and the scarce graphic intervention are all associated with the leading idea of hot cast iron plates.

Materials Used

The materials chosen for this commercial space in Buenos Aires were carefully selected to create an impactful and immersive environment, given the constraints of a small surface area (735 ft2). The design strategy focused on the use of a single material, sheet metal, which was manipulated through strategic interventions such as folds and textured patinas. The primary inspiration behind this choice was the association with hot cast iron plates, a fitting concept for a burger-focused establishment.
Sheet metal was chosen for its versatility and adaptability. The strategic folds in the material add rhythm and texture to the space, creating visual interest and enriching the overall de-sign. The application of textured patinas further enhances the aesthetic, tying in directly with the product being offered – burgers.
The integration of red neon tones adds a vibrant and dynamic element to the design, mim-icking the heat and intensity associated with the cooking process. This choice is not only visually appealing but also effectively communicates the essence of the culinary offerings.
Considering the strategic use of sheet metal and the innovative applications and finishes achieved through folds, patinas, and lighting design, the surfaces applied in this commercial space are exemplary in their design and execution. They effectively capture the essence and experience of the product being offered, creating an immersive and visually striking atmos-phere.

Sustainability

One sustainability aspect is related to material efficiency. Utilizing a single material, sheet metal, and employing it with strategic interventions like folds to create design elements is a form of resource optimization. By maximizing the use of one material, the project contrib-utes to a reduction in overall material consumption and waste generation.

Additional Comments

The design lies in its effective utilization of sheet metal, minimizing material waste and opti-mizing resources. This approach, coupled with strategic interventions like folds, textured patinas, and red neon tones, not only encapsulates the essence of hot cast iron plates but also aligns with sustainability by promoting material efficiency within a confined space. The conscientious material usage showcases an inherent sustainability aspect.
